The Basics of God Modding

What is God Modding?:Well God Modding is many forms of actions users can make in the forums that are otherwise impossible. Such things would be feats the member can do, knowledge the user has, or other things that will be explained by the following terms:

  • God Modding:God Modding in itself is an actual term, as well as the general reference. God Modding is anything involving power, techniques, moves, abilities, special attributes that are too powerful, or infinite knowledge, above the reasonable or above the players capability. God Modding is often noticeable and obvious, thus it is very common amongst the players who are beginners at role play. Unless your a beginner at role playing, one should be capable of avoiding god modding, though slip ups can occur.
  • Auto-Dodging:Auto-Dodging is when a player is constantly avoiding attacks of any kind by players, even simple things like a punch or kick. Auto-Dodging like God Modding is more noticeable and obvious, thus it occurs more frequently with those less experienced. Those with role play experience should be able to avoid Auto-Dodging. There is one exception, aside from the occasional slip up, and that is if your opponent is God Modding with incredible attacks that you are given no choice but to dodge or die, or if your opponent is Auto-Hitting and you have to forcibly give yourself a chance. Hopefully either of these scenarios can be avoided.
  • Auto-Hitting:Auto-Hitting, previously mentioned in Auto-Dodging, is when a player continuously describes all of his attacks as making a connection with his opponent. In scenarios where a player is fighting Non Player Characters, or NPC's, Auto-Hitting isn't so bad. However in Player versus player matches, Auto-Dodging is frowned upon, as you are leaving your opponent with no chances of blocking, and thus forcing him to Auto-Dodge, as stated previously. Like the last two forms of God Modding, Auto-Hitting is a very noticeable, and very obvious mistake to anyone who has role play experience, and is more common in the inexperienced role players. This can be easily avoided with experienced role players, and with the exception of having a god mod opponent, only an occasional slip up is expected.
  • Meta-Gaming:Meta-Gaming is when someone takes information they've learned outside of the role playing forums, and used it inside the role playing forums to gain some sort of advantage. This is a less noticeable mistake, and sometimes even some of the more experienced role players can do this. Its expected that all players can refrain from meta-gaming, but if slip ups occur we wont nuke you too bad. However, since this is something that involves a players character on a more personal level, anyone caught blatantly Meta-Gaming, will be nuked on site.

The What not to do and what to do.

To God Mod or not to God Mod, that is the question:Ok so I know your thinking "Well give me some examples dude, that would help even more." Ok sure I can do that. Here are some do's and donts for each form of god mod:

  • God Modding:A don't for god modding. "Player A dashes toward Player B with speed so quick he can't be seen by anyone" or "Player B uses his special ability, freezing time around him and then walking over to Player A, killing him while he's frozen in time." A do to avoid god modding. "Player A dashes toward Player B with speed from years of training and endurance. While fairly quick, there is a chance Player B may be able to keep up with him." or "Player B has a hard time keeping up with Player A's movements, so Player B uses his special ability, which allows his brain to process more of the information he see's at a quicker speed, helping him keep up with Player A."
  • Auto-Dodging:A don't for Auto-Dodgin. "Player A had used his expert skills to dodge all of the punches and kicks thrown at him. Then when Player B used one of his moves, by throwing a spear of lightning, he ducked." or "Player B saw Player A's counter attack and simply side stepped, as he was just as skilled as Player A." A do, to avoid Auto-Hitting. "Player A using his honed skills manages to avoid much of the punches, but gets clipped several times, and the last kick even connected solidly, forcing him backwards alittle." or "Player B noticed after his barrage of punches and kicks that Player A was making a counter attack. Because he had the upper hand in the fight, he managed to sidestep and avoid some of the damage, still getting hit alittle."
  • Auto-Hitting:A don't for Auto-Hitting. "Player A grabs Player B by the neck and chokes the life out of him." or "Player B flings Player A like a ragdoll." A do, to avoid Auto-Hitting. "Player A attempts to grab Player B by the neck, chocking him if successful." or "Player B lunges at Player A, trying to grab him so he can fling him across the field."
  • Meta-Gaming:Things to avoid doing in this type of God Modding would be looking at a persons profile for information on his moves, or special traits, then use that information in your fight. Or to listen to plots or plans certain members are discussing in the chat box, then acting like you know in the forum.

These are the site rules. Obey them, and you will not suffer punishment.

List
1. Respect ALL members, including yourself.
2. Regard all moderators and administrators with respect.
3. Do not godmod. (x: %Name_01 throws a dagger at supersonic speed towards %Name_02. Instant Kill.)
4. Do not argue with moderators or administrators when asked to do something.
5. Do not multi-account without prior permission from an administrator.
6. Do not harass other members for any reason.
7. Do not show racism towards other members for any reason.
8. Do not get out of control. It's good to have fun, but don't ruin it for everyone.
9. Do not have explicit roleplays in the forums, be polite and carry it on in PM's.
10. Do not use too much foul language, we may have younger members.
11. Do not show disrespect in the chat box.
12. Do not spam the chat box.
13. Do not constantly paste images into the chat box.
14. Do not lag the chat box.
15. Do not use scrolling text in the chat box.
16. Anything you create must be approved before you may begin using it.
17. Follow the templates of creation.
18. Obey all the rules.
19. Follow rule 18
20. Follow rule 19

Punishment for breaking any of the above rules can range from banishment from the forums, a timeout period from roleplaying, or being banned from the chat box. If none of those work, we can think of something creative for you.
